An Attitude of Excellence

I really am amazed at how many people that simply do what it takes to get by.  There seems to be such a lack of servanthood.  Always an excuse.  And then when they serve they do just enough to get by.  I have been pondering this lately and I think of Jesus....the ultimate servant.  I think of the verse in the Bible that talks about whatever you do, do it as if you are doing it for the Lord.  And I think about how the body should opperate......as a body.  Each one doing what he or she is called by God to do.....investing the time and energy it takes to do something to the best of your ability.   I think overall it just makes me sad to see things done half heartedly, when I know if we were all giving 100% serving in our gifted area incredible things would happen.  I want God to burn in me an attitude of excellence in all that I do.....being a wife, mother, teacher, daughter, sister, Sunday School Teacher, etc.

Sweet Boys

Too funny.  I took this yesterday as the boys (and dog)  were playing in a thunderstorm.  I know.  I am a horrible mom.  But they seemed to enjoy the adventure of dodging the lightening, so I just couldn't bring myself to break up the party.

I have been talking to Samuel about his harsh words and tone of voice.  I told him about the verse in the Bible about your words needing to be as sweet as honey and pleasing to the ear.  At the pool this mornig he said..."Mommy I have just one question.  Are you talking about the honey we eat or the Daddy honey (I call Kris Honey?"  He had apparently been pondering that one for a while.  I love him.  He makes me laugh hard multiple times throughout the day.

Latest Project!!!

Found this intertainment piece at a furniture consignment store.  It is super heavy, has good storage,  and pocket doors.  I loved it minus the yucky wood finish.  So I bargained with the seller on price and brought it home a painted it black.  And it turned out great.  Check out the green inset on the doors.  Pretty cool huh?

Seeing Progress

These are pictures from Hamilton's old room, now our school room/play room.  I still have to hang a few things, paint an intertainment center, get a lamp, and put together a computer desk but we are well on our way.  Here are a few pictures.  I love it.  The boys did the art work which I know I will treasure forever.  And yes that is Kris taping the ceiling for me in his boxers and dress shoes.

Latest Find!!

I am so excited!!  I found this futon at a store here that sales new and used furniture.  I purchased it in red for the boys new school/play room.  I also got an entertainment center with pocket doors I am going to refinish for the room as well.  The boys new rooms have been painted and all their bedding has been ordered.  And I have refinished three pieces of furniture between the two rooms.  I painted Hamilton's room the blue/gray and ended up repainting it in a tan color a little lighter than Sam and Jacks room.  I also sent his map comforter back and repurchsed a nautical stripe bedding instead.  I was ready for ALL the blue to be gone and neutral on the walls allows me to buy RED leather futons.  I am not ready for before and after pictures but it is coming along nicely.  I now have to tackle painting the playroom which has 12 or 14 foot ceiling so it will be a major task.  I cannot wait until the back of the house is completed.  Then I can work on my oasis.

I'm Waiting!!

I just listened to a John McAurther CD of Heaven while I was painting.  Let me just say it makes me want to go sit on my deck, with a glass of sweet tea and my Bible,  and just look to the sky waiting for Him to come.  I'm ready.

Another Addition.....to Hamilton's Room That Is

I love ebay.  I can make money and shop and it just makes me happy.  How cute is this lamp???  I love it and better than that Hamilton loves it.  Project Redue is coming along.  Sam is stuggling with the lack of schedule and order right now.  He told me all of this moving and painting is making him nervous.  And that shows in his behavior.  So I am putting things in high gear trying to atleast get him settled.  Again what was I thinking taking all this on????????

Redecorating....In over my head????

What was I thinking trying to paint, redecorate, rearrange, and switch rooms all at one time? I hardly know where to start. I hate being in the middle of a project, so I work my behind off trying to complete it as quickly as possible, which in turn makes me stressed and no fun to be around. I am also trying to do ALOT on a small budget without sacrificing exactly what I want which is not easy. A friend of mine who is a painter/designer came over today and helped me with paint color and arranagement ideas. Here are my plans for Hamilton's new room.

New Quilt....Maps with Fish in Ocean

We choose timeber wolf by Benjamin Moore for his walls.  It is a gray blue.  I distressed an old desk and chair here at the house in a navy.  We have a large sailboat print for over his bed and an antique fishing pole to hand on the wall.  I like this tackle shadow box and will probably be adding to our room.

We are going for an older boys look of the sea with some antique fishing accessories.  I am exhaused but will continue my insane redecorating journey tomorrow.....painting walls.
