New shoes

We took Benzell to academy Friday night to purchase a new pair of shoes. Of coarse, he picked a pair of shaq's. His excitement was priceless, and he was so grateful. His smile says it all. I am do so thankful our paths have crossed. What a joy it is to minister to Benzell.

Thank you

Thank you so much to Luke 4:18 in Mobile for helping sponsor sweet Benzell's family. Benzell has been apart of our church since VBS last summer. He has spent time in our home, and my boys consider him a dear friend. Benzell's home was destroyed by the tornado two weeks ago. He an his family lost everything. Benzell and his two brothers all had head injuries from the tornado. And let me tell you, Benzell has an amazing story to tell. These pictures are of Benzell yesterday at our home. It amazes me after all he has been through, he still has so much joy in his heart. I am thrilled God has provided a way for our family to help meet some if the needs Benzell and his family now have.

Tuscaloosa Tornado

Well this week has been hard to say the least. I have been very sick. I had to have a DNC Tuesday, got severe infection, ran 104 fever, almost got put in hospital, had to send kids to my parents in Mobile I felt so bad, and a tornado plowed though my town destroying my church and the community that I love. I have bascily spent the week crying, watching the news, and trying to rest per doctors instruction. The the pictures are hard to look at. Many kids we ministered to through chruch lost their homes. Actually all but one family. My heart breaks. I feel bad that I am sitting in a nice home, with air condition, food, tv, cell phone, etc. when so many people are suffering. Here are a few pictures of my church. I think it would have been easier to see my home destroyed than my church. Yes, I know the church is not a building, it's the people but it is still hard to see a place I love so much destroyed.

Survived Our 1st Tornado

One of the scariest days of my life. A tornado came through our neighborhood yesterday afternoon. I had our half bath ready with pillows and flash lights. I had already told the boys what to do when I said move. We were watching it cross the AL / MISS line. When the weather man said the college that backs up to our home needed to seek shelter, the bathroom no longer seemed safe. Hamilton suggested we head to our neighbors storm shelter and that is exactly what we did. About 20 min after we got there you could hear hail and trees hitting the roof of the shelter. Everyone there was crying including adults. Your ears even popped with the pressure change. Sam was hysterical. Honestly I didn't know if we would have a home when we walked out or not. God is truly our protector. His protection for us and our home was amazing. Our home had the least damage than any home on the circle we live on. As a mother your only thought is protecting your children during a time like this. I am counting my blessings today.....all four of them.

Trees on top of shelter.

This is the entrance to the shelter we were in. We could hardly get out because trees were everywhere.

My Home Run Hitter

Oh how I love this child. My sweet little jack hit his first home run last night. Not one of those little hits where you get home on errors. He actually hit the ball into center field to the fence. He is only four years old and the youngest on the team. He loves playing baseball and has such natural talent. He went on to get two more amazing hits (one of which would have been a 2nd home run but he found it necessary to slide into second). After the game, the coach presented him with the game ball. We are so proud of our little jack jack. He is a delight to kris and I. His brothers are pretty fond of him to. I am sure the entire ball field heard Samuel cheering him on as he crossed home plate..... "Now that's what I'm talking about Sodergren". I love it. Once again, I am so blessed to be the mother of these three amazing boys.

Fun Day With Cousins

We meet my two sisters at Oak Mountain State Park Wednesday. We really had a great time. I needed a day to be out and about. We are now up to 10 kiddos and let me tell you they are all a handful. We are completely out numbered and have to depend on Maggie, or we would never survive. My boys would rather be with their cousins than anybody else. I love that they love each other much.

Gotta love Sam laid out on the pony. Poor pony.

Sweet Stella. She is an angel baby. Luckily for Stella, Ellie was generous with her cheese puffs.

All the big boys. They think they are hot stuff. Michael gave me a glimpse of what a teenage boy is like. Let me tell you, I don't think I will survive three teenage boys.

Sam swimming. The water was freezing but he didn't mind a bit.

My sweet Ellie. Sam asked Gigi if we could just make her a Sodergren. We all love Ellie.

My three boys. I looked at this picture and think how blessed I am to be called mommy. I just adore my boys.

I am so thankful our homeschooling schedule allows us to be able to pack up and go when we want to. I know one day I will look back and treasure days like this.

Sad Day

Thank you for your prayers, text, and sweet notes of encouragement. Today my ultrasound showed our baby's heartbeat had stopped and our fourth child is already in the presence of our King. I am completely overcome with grief, pain, loss, emptyness, sadness, etc. Though I never held this baby in my arms, I was completely in love with him/her. Thoughts of this sweet child consumed me throughout the day. I will never understand why, but I do take great comfort in knowing my Heavenly Father is in complete control.
